Kushiage-ya Hifumi

This eatery specializing in meats and vegetables deep-fried on skewers (kushiage), has relocated to the new Ta-machi Silk Market precinct. While retaining its outdoor food stall feel, the number of seats has increased and new items have been added to the menu.
Meats and vegetables deep fried on a skewer start from just 160 yen. There’s a variety of old favorites and original combinations on the menu to choose from.
They are eaten with a sweet barbecue sauce, and you can help yourself to as much as you like. Seafoods are served with seaweed salt made in Niigata Prefecture.
One of eatery’s recommendations is the “Oden daikon” skewer. Japanese radish (daikon) cooked in fish broth is skewered and deep fried. It’s crunchy on the outside and juicy from the hot fish broth on the inside. It’s one of Hifumi’s original taste sensations.
Once inside, the first thing you should do is order an entree platter for 1000 yen, choosing three items from a selection of 13. Definitely try the chicken stewed in tomato. The chicken is cut into bite-sized pieces, and it’s sure to remind you of your mother’s cooking.
